Autism Sprinter was started by Yahaira Lopez, which is the “mom on a roll” to make a movement for change. This mommy on the roll has been working so hard to break the stigmas surrounding autism. Most importantly simply creating a positive environment where autism is not felt like a “death sentence”. So the mom on the roll asked to Maya Abdul-Malik the “superhero mom” to join forces with her seeing she had a daughter on the spectrum whom suffers from epilepsy. These 2 chics came together and simply decided that there was nothing more powerful than parents joining forces to create a positive place where autism is not part of service plan. Yup these mommies were pretty much done with spending more time with service providers than hanging with others that did not require a weekly planner. Not to mention the daddy cakes involved were seeking for these mommies to have a life outside of appointments and service providers, yup mommies were begged to get a “life”. So 2 chics, 3 kids, 1 daddy and an idea to create a place for positive vibes, keeping it real, being transparent and simply being autism parents is what geared the path of Autism Sprinter, Inc.
Our approach is unique in the essence where “transparency” creates a culture of “realness” and “acceptance”. We share resources, talk about the parenting autism good or bad, and develop relationships where the people feel more like family than participants. Most importantly created a “village” where we help uplift, enrich and empower the lives of families and their loved ones on the spectrum. We aim to create one love, one support and one big community.
